Vera Wang’s Princess And Alex Wang’s Muse)

Actress/singer/scenester/possessor of super cool parents Zoë Kravitz has been the face of Vera Wang’s Princess fragrance for a little over a year, and now she’s fronting Preppy Princess, the scent’s newest iteration. On Monday we had the chance to chat with Zoë about the new perfume and its campaign.

Vera Wang approached Zoë to get involved with her fragrance Princess (“an honor and a shock,” Kravitz says), and the new scent Preppy Princess is an evolution of the original.

“She’s bringing a bit of an edge to it,” Kravitz said. “The whole idea of the campaign is downtown meets uptown. The scent itself has jasmine-y smells with honey, so it’s a little bit of a bohemian thing with a sweet, uptown smell. I think it’s really cool, and it’s the way I like to dress anyway.”

But don’t let the sweet scent or the name fool you.

“It’s preppy, but there’s a funk to the whole look we put together,” she said. “It’s cool that people don’t think of me as preppy, but that we’re bringing different elements together to create this new kind of alternative preppy girl.

Zoë switches it up when it comes to perfume, and loves Wang’s fragrances because “they’re subtle and sexy and sweet, and they’re not overpowering.” Her style is simiarliy eclectic. The stylish star says she finds most of her clothes at flea markets.

“I think it’s really fun finding special pieces of clothing that have stories to them and that no one else has — everything is like its own little treasure.”

But she doesn’t say no to capital-F fashion. Kravitz has a special relationship with another one of our favorite Wangs: Alexander.

“He’s one of my best friends, and I think he’s one of the most talented designers out there right now,” Kravitz told us. “When I first met him, I didn’t know who he was. I went to this thing with him as a muse, and we just became really good friends. And then he totally blew up, and it’s really exciting for him. He’s just amazing.”

Which leaves us with just one question: Where can we sign up to be a double Wang muse
