Claudia Schiffer, the former supermodel, is to launch her own label cashmere collection.
This is the first fashion design venture for the former Chanel 'muse'. The collection will be produced in a joint venture partnership with the luxury German cashmere brand, Iris von Arnim , and will be unveiled at the forthcoming Paris prêt-à-porter season for autumn/winter 2011/12 next month. Schiffer was launched on the international stage by the German designer and couturier, Karl Lagerfeld , when she made her catwalk debut as the new face of 'Chanel'. Initially hailed for her Brigitte Bardot looks, she went on to become a member of the 1990's elite supermodel clique, together with Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell. She is regarded as one of the most successful models in the world, and has appeared on more than 500 magazine covers. Schiffer, now 40, is married to the British film producer Matthew Vaughn, with whom she has three children. Since she made her debut at Chanel, Schiffer has featured 14 times in the ad campaigns, generally photographed by Karl Lagerfeld and including, most recently, the autumn/winter 08/09 and spring/summer 2010 campaigns.
