Want It Wednesday!

This week's "Want It" item is yet another fabulous piece from one of my all-time favorite brands, Louis Vuitton. This fierce Louis Vuitton Leopard Print Stole is sure to make heads turn. This leopard print design was created for Louis Vuitton by the renowned American artist Stephen Sprouse, and also features the signature Stephen Sprouse graffiti 'Louis Vuitton' signature in pink.

I am obsessed with the entire Stephen Sprouse collection for Louis Vuitton, and this scarf has been one of my favorite pieces ever since it was released. It is made of 70% cashmere are 30% silk, creating the most perfectly luxurious accessory suitable for all seasons.

This scarf is such a hot accessory, and is a staple in numerous celebrity closets- I mean who couldn't love leopard print and Louis Vuitton? And of course adding the amazing Stephen Sprouse into the mix can only equal a glamorous success.

You can purchase this Louis Vuitton leopard print stole only at Louis Vuitton Boutiques (and sometimes on their website)- this accessory is so hot that it usually isn't in stock!

It's Official: Mayweather's Scared!

Cornered by The Associated Press at a celebrity basketball game, Floyd Mayweather couldn't escape. After letting a Friday deadline pass with no response, his much-hyped potential bout with Manny Pacquiao was on the ropes and ready to collapse. The media wanted answers, the fans wanted answers and every bookie, broker and bettor in Vegas wanted answers. So what did Mayweather counter with when hit by this whole super-bout question? A lackadaisical whimper punch of: "I'm not really thinking about boxing right now. I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation."
Uh... really Floyd? Are you serious? These are the words tip-toeing from the mouth of the self-proclaimed “best fighter ever”? The guy just a year removed from a year's worth of retirement talking about relaxing and vacation? The HBO quoted “prize-fighter” who always goes for the big payday?
Floyd fans can try their best to explain this away, but it won't be easy. How do you nickname yourself "Money" Mayweather but treat the biggest payday of your career like it's a part-time job at Checkers?
He could've given a number of reasons, from saying he's waiting on the outcome of his trainer's upcoming court case to his Shih Tzu just died and he's in mourning right now (no report on whether or not Mayweather owns a Shih Tzu is available at this time). Did he have to? No. Should he have, for his fans' sake at least? Most definitely.
When you run through the world proclaiming that you're the best ever in your profession and everyone should respect your greatness, you owe it to not only yourself but enthusiasts everywhere to stand by those principles. You think LeBron James will command the same respect he used to? Heck, even Lil Wayne, the self-proclaimed “best rapper alive," doesn't generate the same publicity he used to. And it's funny because now that I think about it, he doesn't even refer to himself as the best anymore and how could he after a series of recent head-scratchers?
See, when you keep telling people over and over again that you're the best, it's absolutely mandatory you walk the walk until you hang up your shoes. Mayweather, however, still has his shoes laced up but he's walking in the opposite direction of the biggest race he can run in right now. The best should want to beat the best or at least say they lost to the best.
You don't get this kind of obstacle course in the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB. Typically, the best two teams (not the most talented) end up meeting each other down the road somewhere. Only in college football and boxing do you get sideswiped with politics that steers the fans clear of what they want.
First, Mayweather was on his campaign to "clean up the sport of boxing" by refusing to fight Pacquiao until the latter underwent strict drug testing procedures. Now, Mayweather seemingly could care less about a fight? Crazy.
First King James slips to South Beach, now this.
Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert couldn't write a letter harsher than what Mayweather's fans should be penning right now.

Mixx To Cluster Related Stories – Digg Should Have Done This

Digg competitor Mixx continues to impress us with newfeatures (although the exodus of Digg users to them may have been short lived).
A new feature launches this week on Mixx called Related Items. It solves a common problem found on Digg and other sites where multiple articles on the same story compete with each other to get to the home page. One person may submit a story from USAToday. Another may submit basically the same story but from the Washington Post. Those stories are tracked separately on Digg, and votes are split between them as users discover them. The result is that the story takes longer to get to the home page than it otherwise should. Or worse, both make it and the story is duplicated. Digg catches duplicate submission for the exact same link, but they are unable to determine if stores are related.

The Related Items feature on Mixx flags a submission when it thinks that a story is similar. A message appears that says “We may already have this story! Or at least one startling similar. Take a look at the stories below.” The user submitting the related story can then choose to submit it anyway, or add it as a related item to the previous submission. Digg also flags stories that may be similar to other submissions, but does not offer the ability to cluster the new story to the old ones.
There is a benefit to the submitter in adding the story to the previous submission because the new story will be added, too (and traffic will flow). Users benefit because they get more information and perspectives on the story. Here’s a screen shot of how the clustering will look (click for bigger view):
The clustering that will occur from this will very much resemble TechMeme, which is a great way to quickly find multiple perspectives on the news.
Mixx, which is backed by Intersouth Partners and the LA Times, is still a tiny blip compared to competitors like Digg and Reddit. Comscore says Digg has 12 million unique monthly visitors, compared to about a million on Reddit. Mixx? They’ve got just 45,000. That’s probably a low count, since newer and smaller sites are much harder for Comscore to measure. but they have a long, long way to go before they are even no. 2 in this market. Motorcycle Mama

So this is probably going to be exceptionally unexpected and random for many of you, but I love motorcycles! I have been brought up around motorcycles my entire life- riding dirt bikes myself for awhile and riding on the back of my Dad's many motorcycles over the years.

This leads me to some very exciting news- I received my motorcycle license last weekend! This is something that I have wanted to do for a very long time, and finally took the time to take this insanely intense beginner's motorcycle class (7:00am-6:30pm everyday over the weekend). At this class the instructors teach you all about motorcycles, safety, technique, and how to ride. Upon completion of this accelerated course (passing both a written and riding test) you receive your license!

So, in short, I got my license and actually purchased a motorcycle this week- It is a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle in Black Cherry (absolutely GORGEOUS color). It is the perfect beginner bike, because let's face it, I certainly do not want to kill myself and motorcycling is quite a dangerous hobby. That is why I am so glad that I completed that beginner's class- it helped me feel confident that I can handle a motorcycle and any dangerous situations that may occur (Fingers crossed that I never have to use any of these techniques that I learned).

This post is not to brag about getting my license, although I am extremely excited about it, but rather it is to inspire glamour girls everywhere to follow their passions- Just because motorcycling is considered a "guy thing" doesn't mean that a girly girl like myself can't do it too! I'm so proud to be a biker chick, sporting my pink helmet and pink gloves, riding an amazing bike, and doing something that I love- just because I am a girl, doesn't mean I can't handle the road like the guys do! So this is to inspire all those glamour girls out there to do what you want with your life- you can love motorcycles and Chanel purses, you don't have to choose. Follow your dreams and passions and always do what makes YOU happy xox

Manly Monday

Hello fashionistas! I am very excited for our second ever Manly Monday post- this week we have the fabulous Steven Huang joining us to give us his take on fashion! So without any further adieu, here is Steve- hope you all enjoy :)

One might argue that this Manly Monday is a “Semi-Manly” Monday because I’m playing on the other team. Said individual might be inclined to ignore my advice because he assumes it doesn’t pertain to him or that it doesn’t apply to the man in her life. However, the recommendation I’m about to make is equal parts sensible, functional, and fab-you-lous.

First off, I’d like to address the myth that men don’t need to be fashionable. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Would you want to take an unfashionably-dressed boyfriend on a date to a fancy restaurant, or say, your friend’s art show? Absolutely not; the man on your arm is one of your most prominent accessories. And it only takes one out-of-place accessory to ruin an entire outfit.

Without further adieu, I’d like to share one of the most important rules in my personal style manifesto: wear designer jeans. I’m not advocating a specific brand because it depends on the person’s individual taste. What I am recommending is a pair of jeans made with high quality denim, a fitted outline (this doesn’t mean tight), and one that pairs well with the rest of your wardrobe. I’m advocating that every man should own a pair of designer jeans that will give him confidence, that serves as an outlet of his expression, and ultimately, is practical day-to-day.

Confidence: Do you remember putting on your first pair of brand-name jeans? For me, it was a pair of Sevens; light indigo colored, medium-light wash, a little fading and detailing, boot cut. I wanted to see what the hype of brand-name jeans was all about, and as soon as I put them on, I understood. They were soft, fitted through the thigh, and fell perfectly around my heel. When I walked out of Nordstrom that day, I was a new me. I felt confident and just….sexier. I looked good and I felt good – all thanks to my first pair of designer jeans.

Expression: Everyday, I use high-end denim to express how I want to feel. If I have a busy day ahead of me, I opt for a straight-leg or skinny leg pair of G-Star’s with flip-flops or light canvas shoes to keep me streamlined. If I’m going to meet up with a friend for coffee or lunch, I’ll keep it casual with a pair of dark, unwashed Diesels and keep my look cool, crisp, and minimalist. On the other hand, If I’m planning a night out of getting hammered, the studded and distressed Rock & Republics are first in line; because I want to make a statement. Choosing between several styles of trendy jeans allows you to customize yourself and how people interpret you. Jeans are an outlet of your personal flavor and zest for life, don’t hold yourself back with cheap Hollister crap that has no character.

Practicality: When you wear high-end denim, you have a pair of pants for every day. I’m not talking about wearing the same pair every day; I’m talking about every “day”. Like, the day you go to a baseball game, you can wear those nice jeans. Going to visit Grandma? Throw on that pair of designer threads. Don’t pigeonhole each pair for a specific occasion. Only buy jeans that you can mix and match with different shirts and shoes. Pretty soon, your ability to sport trendy jeans with any occasion will become flawless. On a side note, they last much longer than a cheaper-quality pair. In fact, I’m wearing my first pair of Sevens as I write this! Your return-on-investment is guaranteed to surprise you.

When you think about it, Life can be pretty unpredictable. Tomorrow, you could run into an old friend, or meet a new friend. You might see a celebrity, or even meet your future spouse! You could get caught in the rain and find yourself unable to get a cab. Your day could be anything from ordinary to extraordinary. As you live your life, live it in style; in designer jeans.

Thanks for reading everyone!

The 5 Biggest Nail Trends For Summer 2010

The buzz on nails is bold blues and greens, sizzling metallics and chip-free manicures. Read on to discover the latest nail polish trends of the season.

LONG LASTING MANICURES
Acrylics have become passe. Salon manicures that chip within days are a thing of the past. You can put the pains of buffing, fills and smudged manis behind you. The hottest trend in nails is UV gel polish and hybrids. Thanks to products like CalGel,CND Shellac and OPI Axxium women are indulging in manicures that last for two to three weeks with no chipping, dulling or tip wear.

Unlike traditional polish, the gel and hybrid nail polishes cure under a UV lamp and dry instantly. You can grab your keys, shove your hands in your pocket, even put on your shoes without worrying about dents. Can you imagine the possibilities beyond this summer? Winter pedicures that don't leave your feet freezing in flip flops (!).

The unique formulation keeps the finish glossy and scratch free until it's removed. Of course you have to live with your color of choice for at least two weeks so make it a good one. (And wear sunscreen to protect your hands from the UV rays).

GO GREEN
OPI put it best by naming their spring green polish Jade Is The New Black. Mint may have been all the rage last year but this season kelly and grass green are having their moment. It's time to ditch those typical bright summer pinks and sweet spring sheers for something bold and fun. Major brands like Essie, Orly and Sally Hansenhave also included vivid greens in their seasonal collections turning a color that used to get sideways stares into a must-have shade.

Granted green can be an intimidating color to wear so if you're apprehensive, ease in by wearing it on your toes before bringing it into the spotlight on your hands.

Looking for inspiration? Green Celebrity Nail Stylist Jenna Hipp nailed the trend when she applied SpaRitual Emerald City on Lauren Conrad for the March 2010 issue of Seventeen. Other shades to try: Orly Wandering Vine, Essie Pretty Edgy, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Spring Green, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover.
FOILS ARE THE NEW METALLICS
Gold, silver and bronze nails always look hot against a faux glow but metallic polishes are traditionally streaky leaving brush marks in their wake. The new metallics have a foil finish, eliminating the uneven look that plagued this type of lacquer in the past. Foil finish polishes take metallic to a whole new level. They are the closest you can get to a mirror-like finish with polish and now they're coming out in a slew of colors.

OPI included strawberry and sea green foils in their Summer Flutter collection and the Zoya Sparkle collection is nothing but foils ranging from pink to green to purple.

For the true metallic lover look no further than the Orly Foil FX collection. With a true yellow gold, sparkling silver and soft rose gold it's the perfect way to bring a little bling to the beach, no jewelry required.

The key to wearing this look is choosing the shade that best compliments your skin tone. Follow the same rules you would when choosing jewelry. Cool tones opt for silver and pewter shades, warm tones will look best wearing yellow gold, rose and bronze hues.
TURN UP IN TURQUOISE
Last December the color experts at Pantone deemed turquoise the color of the year and it's been popping up on runways and
red carpets ever since. It wasn't just the clothes that were making a statement on Jean Paul Gaultier's S/S 2010 Couture runway, the nails definitely demanded attention. You couldn't help but notice the models' bold turquoise talons. Meanwhile, Queen Latifah was spotted last week wearing Ginger + Liz Boy Toy, a Tiffany blue creme. Other turquoise shades to try: China Glaze For Audrey, butter LONDON Henley Regatta, Models Own Top Turquoise.

SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT
There's no point in deliberating over what nail color to wear if you don't have a perfect canvas to display it. Pull out those files and get your tips in order. Summer is an active time so you need nails at a length that won't easily break. Square nails are dated and squoval feels slightly masculine. The shape seen backstage at the Tracy Reese Spring 2010show was tapered and more oval than we've seen in years past so aim for a short and slightly rounded nail.

From extended life manicures to the boldest of hues to glittering metallics, this season is a nail fanatic's dream come true.

Choosing Cool Sunglasses

There's something concerning a pair of prescription sunglasses that produces them one in every of the leading most important 'should-have' things of all time.

Not exclusively; are they enormously reasonable, giving protection from rays of the sun, they are an immensely multi-purpose fashion accessory, out there throughout a huge change of colors, styles and costs to satisfy each pocket. Sunglasses producing has become very profitable, on the other hand it is highly competitive business. Although some producers rise and decline in the general public fondness, there is one company that goes on to be eternally synonymous with the eyeglasses that protect our eyes from the rays of the sun. That is Ray-Ban.

Despite Us President, Benjamin Franklin, is commonly believed with developing eyeglasses, in fact the primary reading glasses were invented in Italy, as early as 1260. People kept being captivated by all things optical during the centuries that followed, afterwards, in the mid-eighteen, British scientist James Ayscough began to research tinted glass and the possibility that such technology could be used to raise vision impaired eyesight,. He was successful in some degree. After 1929, the concept that glasses might filter the sun’s rays.It was given any serious consideration. During that period, U.S. optical company, Foster Grant, began to develop the idea more, later that same year, the first sunglasses were sold from a Woolworth’s store on the Atlantic Town boardwalk.

The U.S. Army Air Corps knew new technology may be advantageous to their pilots and they asked another well-known Yankee company, Bausch & Lomb, to develop eyeglasses that may protect the eyes from the apparent risks of the sun.

Ray-Ban had been U.S. eyeglass company. Using the newly polarized lenses, and a wide frame that provided highest protection from the shine of an instrument panel, Ray-Ban began to supply a lens that banned the sun’s rays in 1936. 3 years later, this model of sunglasses therefore in style with pilots, became readily out there to the Yankee public. So Ray-Ban ‘aviators’ were born.

Similarly Americans came off from ages, so too did their eyewear. During war years, Ray-Ban went on its operating partnership with the Air Force, producing Gradient mirror lenses that achieved to be each highly practical and trendy at the same time. There was one thing concerning that Yank flyer in his powerful brown leather flight jacket, whose sunglasses hid his eyes. Ray-Ban had just created its sexy sunglasses.

It was ubiquitous in the 1950’s. Sunglasses became supplemental than just eye- protection. They had been worn by a-list celebrities in Vegas and Hollywood -stars whose each move was investigated and emulated everywhere in the country. Sunglasses became a fashion accent and Ray-Ban was fast to adapt itself into the growing trend for brand new styles and colorful frames, that they especially marketed to girls.

The corporate developed shatterproof lenses in the 1960’s and the acknowledgment of sunglasses continued to rise when fashion icon Jackie Kennedy was typically seen along with her trademark, outsized frames.Sunglasses were taking an important part on any actor’s costume on the silver screen, with movie stars like Peter Fonda and Audrey Hepburn, enjoying fashionable, sunglass wearing, characters who were in a position to hide their eyes from the audience and stay influential.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Ray-Ban continued to develop new designs. The ‘Wings’ model was indeed a forerunner to the very modern lens of today. The mirrored lenses once thus fashionable in the 1940’s began to reappear in the era of American TV cop shows, like Starsky & Hutch, and Chips. Ray-Ban was retro.

Funky and retro, trendy and fashionable, Ray-Ban remains at the foremost part of sunglass producing till today. Without any doubt, the company will continue to have stamina in the trade, because throughout the years it has developed itself day by day and allowed people particularly about what they want for their eyes Ray-Ban gives reliable protection of a hi-tech pair of prescription sunglasses, and the extreme ‘cool’ of a damn sexy try of shades.
